The Blue Cristo is unique to the region and has been portrayed in New Mexico since the 1700's. The interpretation is believed to have originated in Europe in the middle ages to portray Christ's death on the cross. Spiritually blue signifies the Healing Power of God. It is the most sublime subject and color which biblically represents the Word of God. The Bible explains that the color blue represents Jesus' heavenly home. A departure from Earth and a return to God.
